    Description

    For sale is my beautiful all original 1964 Pontiac Bonneville convertible with a 300hp 389, 4 barrel carb, roughly 45k since a full restore, desirable bucket seats and heavy duty axles with air cooled drum bakes.
    Now before I get into the rest of it fair warning, this car is cursed. Not cursed like my POS brand new Wagoneer that requires service once a month because various pieces of trim fall off, fuel door stops opening or yet another major systems fails but cursed never the less. You ever read “A Classic Affair” by Charles Beaumont? If not you should, because it’s sort of like that.
    You see pretty much every year my wife and I get some sort of car to use as toy.  We putt around on it when the weather is nice, put on a few thousand miles, spend entirely too much on maintenance and repairs and then sell it just to repeat the process again next year. In the process we have experienced some wonderful cars, Jaguars, Porsches, BMW’s etc but never quite has an issue like this.
    The issue is I bought this car early January of 2022 and haven’t been able to stop driving it since. In fact, I have never had another car that I have  driven this much, with so much joy, and with so few problems. Don’t believe me? Well I got the car with about 20k on the odometer and it’s just about to roll over 42k and that’s with it not being my daily driver and not to mention of my motorcycle.
    I have literally driven this car all over the country and it has proven so reliable that I did a 3000 mile road trip with my 6 month pregnant wife. Each mile with a big stupid grin. Unlike pretty much every other car it literally pains me a little to list it but I am just not ready to settle down with this car and our rule is every year we trade. With that out the way back to the car.
    It is my understanding that this car is all original and underwent a complete restoration around 15 years ago. The undercarriage is like new and I give  the body a solid 7.5-8 out of 10. There are a few minor imperfections here and there but the paint job is top notch and the chrome is amazing with the exception of a rear bumper. Please see pics but looks like some surface rust is starting to form.
    The interior also looks great and all seats, compartments work as they should.
    As mentioned, mechanically the car is 100% solid. It does look like the valve covers are staring to seep and I will have them replaced. I have also replaced the tires on it and had a complete tuneup (carbs, plugs, coils, timing, brakes, alignment, etc l) done on it by Golz motors in Glenview IL around 15k ago. The only mechanical issue I ever had with it was a
    Water pump and that has been replaced.
    The car cruises great and tops out around 90mph indicated about 85mph actual. It’s happiest cruising under 80 and gets about 18mpg on premium. You should use premium or it will knock under load. I use and suggest you use penzoil VR1 20w50 motor oil. Heat, power top, all power windows, etc work as they should. Trans shift great .
    So what doesn’t work.
    1) As mentioned currently the valve covers are seeping but I will replace them
    2) the blower speed readout on the heater doesn’t work. The heater itself and all the setting do but the blower speed display does not. I did purchase a replacement heater and will try to swap it out
    3) Cigarette lighter broke and I have a replacement
    4) The stiching on the drivers seat came apart. Please see pic. The rest of the seats look great.
    5) The stereo works and the power antenna work but it sounds terrible. Plus it’s AM only,  I just have a big Bluetooth speaker in the back seat
    6) The battery gage is not working. The dash will be apart to replace the heater and cigarette lighter and maybe it’s just a connection issue but no promises this will be resolved. A replacement gauge is about
    7) Not broken but since I mentioned this car is all
    Original the tach is not original! It’s a really good fit and I believe it was optional but it is not original. An original is about 0-0.
    I really think that’s pretty much it. Any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to work with you on shipping but really why not just drive it back? I got it in Miami and drove it back to New Orleans. I’m also happy bring it to a mechanic  of your choice for an inspection.
    Car will not be released until funds clear. I might be interested in a trade or trade plus cash. Maybe a stick cab 911 of any vintage? Also considering a California or a Morgan 3 wheeler etc…. Car still has financing so title is not on hand.
